Introduction to France
In the heart of Europe, bordered by seas and mountains and containing the precious world capital of Paris, France has a diverse geography but some incredible soil that grows excellent champagne and wine.
The history of France is the history of the Celtic tribes called the Gauls and their colonization in 51 BCE by the Romans.
This nation became important in the Middle Ages and by the Renaissance period it was beginning to create what would become the world’s second largest global empire.
The later history of the French Kings and the French Revolution paved the way for the Republic and the wars of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries which have each left indelible marks upon this proud nation.
Like Japanese culture, French culture has hierarchies and traditions that together create a unique system that is expressed in language, dress code, aesthetics and communalism. As the population of French people born outside of France increases, Paris especially has become a diverse multicultural city.
