Introduction to UNESCO Sites
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) awards the status of “World Heritage site” to parts of the world that are of “outstanding value to humanity.
World Heritage sites can be natural or cultural and there are more than a thousand of them around the world, with China having the most UNESCO World Heritage sites. Italy and Spain have the next most World Heritage sites.
UNESCO has been protecting these zones since 1972. Come and discover the world’s most important natural and cultural sites.
